Tom Rice | Creative Director

Tom is an award-winning designer with extensive experience creating marketing campaigns for a wide range of industries including financial services, fashion, telecommunications, technology, real estate and health care. Tom started his career as advertising director for Roots, a subsidiary of Hartmarx Specialty Stores in Chicago, IL, one of the countryís premier clothiers. After three years, he was chosen by Hartmarx to head the creative department for the companyís new retail fashion division, where, as Creative Director, he led the creative initiatives for 36 companies with 175 stores nationwide. He also developed and taught advertising classes for companies selling Hartmarx product lines. In 1992, Tom returned to the New York area as a freelance art director where he helped produce marketing materials for some of New York, New Jersey and Bostonís best-known marketing agencies. He was involved with the start-up of two agencies, helping them start their creative departments.

Jeanne Westervelt Rice | Communication Coach

Before co-founding Rice+Associates in 1993, Jeanne worked in public relations and marketing communications for Beneficial Corporation (later Household Finance) and Towers Perrin. With a strong interest in both writing and public speaking, she went on to earn her master's degree in broadcast journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Jeanne later worked as a field producer for CNN business news in Chicago before returning to New Jersey, where she served as an adjunct professor in the School of Communication at Rutgers University. Jeanne is an award-winning government research grant writer, and her work has been published in a variety of business trade publications and newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal. She has been coaching executives in public speaking skills, media interview techniques, and effective business writing for more than 20 years.

Leslie Ausburn | Media Relations Specialist

With more than 10 years of broadcast news experience as a writer, producer and on-air reporter, Leslie leads many of our media relations campaigns. She brings a diversified background to her marketing communications and PR work, and has most recently spearheaded niche campaigns in the HR, grocery, retail, electronics and environmental management industries. Leslie's hard news background has been instrumental in helping Rice+Associates develop successful pitches around a variety of client products and services. Leslie is an active speaker/lecturer on media relations and has received several awards for her news reporting skills. She holds a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Sue Klein | Senior Writer

Sue is a public relations consultant specializing in writing, media relations and project management. She has over 15 years experience in corporate and non-profit public relations, marketing and communications. Her writing has appeared in newspapers, employee newsletters and in professional publications. She has appeared on local and national television in her role as spokesperson for Legacy Emanuel and Good Samaritan Hospitals in Portland, Oregon. Her skills include concise writing for diverse audiences, copy editing, international media placements, speaking program management, strategic planning and crisis communication management. Her career has included management positions in healthcare and financial services.

Robin Suerig Holleran | Senior Writer

Robin is regularly published in both trade and professional publications, and her corporate case studies have appeared in numerous executive magazines. Recent consumer stories have appeared in NJ Monthly, NJ Countryside Magazine, NJ CEO, The Star Ledger, The Daily Record, and other community newspapers and magazines. She received "Honorable Mention" in a Writer's Digest Writing Competition. Robin has a bachelor's degree in Public Communications from American University in Washington, D.C. She started her career in PR at the National Gallery of Art before becoming the Associate Editor of a trade publication promoting Lamaze childbirth. Later she went on to a number of management positions in real estate, banking and the computer industry.
